Champagne Godmé – Verzenay
The 5th generation is currently in charge of the Godmé estate, created in the Grand Cru village of Verzenay in 1895. They own just over 27 acres, scattered over 80 different small parcels on the Montagne de Reims. They bottled their first wine under their own label in 1930, and produce a total of just 4,000 cases each year.
The vineyards are in the villages of Verzenay, Verzy & Beaumont sur Vesle (all Grand Cru), and in the 1er Cru villages of Villers-Marmery and Villedommange. Planting totals are 55% Chardonnay, 30 Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier.
Godmé was selected as one of the Top 100 wines in the world by Wine Spectator in 2010, and has a passionate cult following around the world. Fabulous wines that are hard to find, but worth the search!
