Domaine Thibert Père & Fils — Fuissé

Christophe Thibert and his sister Sandrine are now at the helm of this venerable 60 acre estate in the Mâconnais. The Mâcon region is home to some of the greatest-value white wine appellations in all of Burgundy, and the Thiberts have extensive holdings in St. Veran, Mâcon, and Pouilly-Fuissé, including some old-vine parcels over 85 years old. The vineyards are now organic, all fruit is picked by hand (not a universal practice in this region), and the wines are hallmarked by their intensity, purity and length. These wines often blow away many Côte de Beaune whites at a fraction of the price.

2008 St. Véran Champ Rond $27 >>

2008 St. Véran “Champ Rond”:  An elegant, pure and airy nose features notes of pear, lemon rind and pain grillé that
introduces textured, intense and sappy middle weight flavors that culminate in a linear, persistent and moderately austere
finish.  This should round into form quickly however as there is good mid-palate fat. 90Pts 2011+

2008 Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles Vignes $30 >>

From a blend of several old-vine estate parcels from across the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation. Rich, bright fruit and good depth.

2008 Pouilly-Fuissé Vignes Blanches $44 >>

Moderate wood doesn’t detract from the otherwise fresh, bright and expressive nose that offers up white orchard fruit aromas, subtle spice hints and floral notes that precede rich, sappy and admirably pure flavors that possess plenty of acid buffering dry extract and excellent length as well as notably more complexity. (89-92)

2008 Pouilly-Fuissé les Ménètrières $60 >>

A more modulated wood treatment allows the lemon and acacia blossom aromas to shine as they complement well the citrusy and strikingly intense, indeed almost painfully so, flavors brimming with a pungent minerality, all wrapped in a finish of outstanding depth and length. This is a really pretty and harmonious effort. (90-92)

2010 Mâcon-Prissé, En Chailloux $22 >>

A fruity and expressive nose speaks of white peach and apricot and this fruit dominant character continues onto the rich, round and opulent flavors that are already drinking well. This is a straightforward and delicious effort. 86 Pts.
