La Paulée de Portland Dinner – Saturday November 1st at Imperial

Saturday, November 1st, 2014

Please join us for our 9th annual La Paulée de Portland Dinner at one of our favorite Portland restaurants, Imperial, owned by James Beard Award-winning chef Vitaly Paley who also owns Paley’s Place.   This is our spin on Burgundy’s La Paulée de Meursault.

This French term, La Paulée, is the name of the celebration that began in Burgundy centuries ago, originally as a small feast the winegrowers would host for their pickers and winery crews on the final day of harvest. Over time this mutated into the now famous “La Paulée de Meursault”, where hundreds of winegrowers from all across Burgundy get together for a 10-hour lunch in the cellars of the Chateau de Meursault and each guest brings several prized bottles from their cellars to freely share with all. Nine years ago, Scott Paul Wines decided it was time to bring the tradition to the Willamette Valley!

In this spirit, guests at our dinner are encouraged to bring a special bottle or two from their cellar to drink and share with table mates. This is our most popular event of the year as the array of old/hard to find gems around the room is astounding and Vitaly creates a menu specifically for aged pinots. (Be warned… after the wine has flowed, Scott just loves to get everyone singing Burgundian drinking songs!)

$125/person. 7pm start time.  To reserve a spot, contact email Kelly Karr or call her at 503-319-5827.  Imperial Restaurant is housed in the stylish, ideally situated, downtown Portland Hotel Lucia, where we’ve arranged a special room rate of 15% off. We strongly encourage guests to spend the night or arrange for a drive home due to the tempation to over-indulge.  (Please call 503.225.1717 or toll-free at 866.986.8086 and request the “Scott Paul Wines Paulée Dinner” group in order to receive the group discount.)
