2007 Auxey-Duresses Blanc $44: (bottled under screw cap) >>
- iA very fresh nose of green fruit and an herbal component that is also reflected by the detailed, minerally and admirably pure middle weight flavors that possess good energy and punch on the delicious racy and acceptably long finish. 87/2010+
2007 Nuits St. Georges, Aux Thorey 1er $85 >>
- Aromatically this is as much Vosne as Nuits with a wonderfully pure and spicy nose that is at once ripe yet elegant with red and blue berry fruit modulated with earth and iron hints that continue onto the detailed, stony and energetic flavors brimming with dry extract, all wrapped in an impeccably balanced and persistent finish. This is terrific and while the tannins are firm, there is none of the occasional aggressivity of a classic Nuits. (90-92)/2013+
2008 Bourgogne Blanc $29 >>
- Fresh and pretty citrus and floral notes on the nose, with a bright personality and a crisp and persistent finish. Lots of personality and a lots of flavor at this level.
2008 Auxey-Duresses Blanc $44 >>
- Delicious citrus fruits coupled with an intense minerality make for a complex, punchy, and serious white that shows both power and finesse.
2008 Puligny-Montrachet $65 >>
- Clean, crisp, intense, with layers and layers of aromas and flavors emerging with each sip. There is great depth and very fine length – in fact a palate-staining finish. This is a superb example of village-level Puligny.
2008 Savigny – Les – Beaune $40 >>
- (about 20% of the blend is declassified 1er). A serious but not really somber nose of dark berry fruit and plenty of pungent Savigny-style earth influence where the latter carries over to the supple, round and reasonably complex middle weight flavors that are supported by delicious tannins. (85-88)/2013+
2008 Volnay, Clos de la Cave des Ducs 1er Cru $75 >>
- (from a rarely seen 1er that measures only .64 ha). Cool but ripe red fruit aromas that precede the fresh and lacy middle weight flavors that are also delicious and nicely complex though here the solidly persistent finish is austere and serious. (87-89)/2013+
2008 Nuits-St. Georges, Aux Thorey 1er Cru $85 >>
- A more elegant if not necessarily more complex nose of freshly turned earth, humus and red currant aromas merges seamlessly into very supple, round and almost surprisingly forward barely middle weight flavors that finish with more overall depth. This is almost easy at present but there appears to be enough underlying structure to permit 6 to 8 years of improvement. (87-90)/2015+
2008 Clos St. Denis Grand Cru $155 >>
- Fresh, earthy and plum suffused aromas that display background nuances of violets… that slide gracefully into delicious and notably complex medium-bodied flavors that possess a seductive and sappy mouth feel on the solidly but not aggressively structured finish. (90-92)/2016+
