Domaine Anne & Hervé Sigaut — Chambolle-Musigny
The Sigauts have been passionately but quietly making gorgeous wines in the tiny village of Chambolle-Musigny for generations. The secret is out and the quiet is about to be a thing of the past. The estate totals 17 acres, including spectacular old-vine parcels of Chambolle 1er Crus Les Fuées, Les Sentiers and Noirots – many of which are plowed by horse. Hervé follows the lunar calendar for most activities in the vineyard and cellar, and prefers to touch the wine as little as possible during élévage. The winemaking facility was re-built in 2004, with a sorting table, all stainless-steel fermentation tanks, and full temperature control. New oak is kept to a maximum of 40%. The wines are thoroughbred examples of the magnificent terroirs of Chambolle-Musigny.

2006 Chambolle-Musigny $55 >>
- “An elegant and notably refined red pinot fruit nose that is cool, pure and restrained leads to equally reserved middle weight and forward flavors that culminate in a detailed, sweet and layered finish. This is a lovely villages and definitely worth a look. (87-89)/2010+”
2006 Chambolle-Musigny les Fuées 1er Cru $60 >>
- Three parcels abutting Bonnes Mares, planted in 1977 and 1996. “A slightly more deeply pitched nose of blue berry and violet aromas laced liberally with obvious mineral notes that are picked up by the detailed, balanced and tautly muscled middle weight flavors that exude a controlled power and excellent length. This is a touch leaner but the class of the terroir is evident. (89-91)/2013+”
2006 Chambolle-Musigny Châtelots 1er Cru $60 >>
- From a tiny .25 acre parcel of 35 year-old vines. “An airy, elegant and very pure nose of red pinot fruit nuanced by hints of crushed herb and warm earth merges into refined and very Chambolle flavors that are an exercise in delicacy and finesse that culminate in a beautifully balanced and persistent finish. This is unusually deep for a Chatelots and should offer 5 to 8 years of upside development. Recommended. (89-92)/2012+”
2006 Chambolle-Musigny les Sentiers 1er Cru $70 >>
- 1.7 acres below the northern end of Bonnes Mares, planted in 1947. “Here the nose is brooding and much more deeply pitched with lower register aromas of blue and black berry that complement the rich, delicious and complex flavors that are mineral-infused and impeccably balanced and if not quite as intense as the Chatelots, it certainly doesn’t lack for energy or punch. Like a smaller-scaled Bonnes Mares. (89-91)/2012+”
2006 Chambolle-Musigny Noirots 1er Cru $75 >>
- From three separate plots directly below the middle of Bonnes Mares, planted in 1964, 1980 & 1996. “This is quite ripe, indeed surprisingly so for the vintage with an appealing mix of red, blue and violet notes that introduce rich, sweet and admirably voluminous flavors are attractively textured and detailed, all wrapped in a firm, balanced and energetic finish. Lovely. (88-91)/2012+”
