Domaine Buisson-Charles — Meursault

This tiny 12 acre domaine is run by Michel Buisson, with his daughter Catherine and son-in-law Patrick Essa, the 4th generation to exploit these gorgeous holdings in Meursault. Vines are over 100 years old in some parcels. The wines are concentrated, classic, rich, and long – and they are flat-out built to age.. The Meursault Vielles Vignes is from vines averaging 65+ years of age. Production of the 1er Crus is miniscule – a scant few barrels of Goutte d’Or, Charmes, Bouches-Chères and Les Cras.

    2006 Meursault – Vieilles Vignes $48 >>

  • “An expressive ripe orchard fruit nose nuanced with hints of brown butter and roasted nuts introduce rich, full and sweet flavors that also possess good volume and plenty of intensity on the relatively fine finale. Lovely and very Meursault in character – plus this will age well. 88/2011+”

    2006 Meursault - Tessons $55 >>

  • “(from vines planted in 1964 and shown 20% new wood). Here there is a distinct step up in aromatic complexity with pure citrus-infused aromas that display a touch of spice that continue onto the delicious and rich flavors that possess enough mid-palate fat to qualify as opulent yet the minerally finish is focused and detailed. Excellent quality here, particularly for its level. Recommended. 90/2012+”

    2006 Meursault - Charmes 1er Cru $70 >>

  • “A completely different aromatic profile is present with white flower, citrus and a soupçon of orange peel that merges into again very ripe but not exotic fruit-driven flavors that offer excellent richness and verve on the beautifully intense and pure finish. This is blessed with ample dry extract and I particularly like the mouth feel. 92/2013+”

    2006 Meursault - Goutte d’Or 1er Cru $70 >>

  • “A touch of pain grillé sets off very ripe but not exotic spiced peach, pear and apricot aromas that complement well the exceptionally rich yet layered and beautifully well balanced medium full flavors that also possess buckets of dry extract on the palate staining finish. As good as the Charmes is, and it’s excellent, this goes it one better. Highly recommended. 93/2013+”

    2006 Meursault - Bouches-Chères 1er Cru $65 >>

  • “Very discreet oak notes highlight the moderately exotic fruit nose that includes aromas of mango and papaya plus peach and something vaguely Viognier-like that introduces impressively rich, full and powerful flavors that also possess ample amounts of dry extract that confer an almost chewy texture onto the palate staining finish that seems to go on and on. The Charmes is finer but this is clearly a bigger more powerful effort. 92/2013+”

    2006 Meursault - Les Cras 1er Cru $70 >>

  • “A notably ripe but not exotic yellow fruit nose trimmed in a discreet hint of wood slides into delicious, intense and iodine-infused flavors that are slightly reminiscent of a first class Chablis as does the penetrating finish that is brimming with an almost pungent minerality. Again, this is first rate if you like racy burgs. 91/2013+”
