Domaine François Lamarche — Vosne Romanée

Proprietors of amazing vineyard holdings in Vosne-Romanée, including the Grand Cru Monopole "La Grande Rue". the line-up also includes stunning Grands Echezeaux, Echezeaux and Clos Vougeot, and the best of the Vosne 1er Crus (Malconsorts, Suchots, and the very rare Croix Rameau.) Young Nicole Lamarche has taken over the winemaking from her father François, and the quality is going from strength to strength. "His daughter appears to have a gifted hand - the quality of her '06s is actually not too far behind their terrific '05s."

We import tiny quantities of these wines each year and they sell out within days of release. These wines are dense and well balanced, built for the long term, and are bottled without fining or filtration.

    2006 Vosne-Romanée $65 >>

  • "spicy and quite ripe black and blue fruit aromas that precede the relatively rich, sweet and sappy flavors where the sap completely buffers the buried tannins, all wrapped in a mouth coating and persistent finish. (86-88)/2011+"

    2006 Vosne-Romanée - Les Suchots 1er Cru $90 >>

  • "As one would reasonably expect, this is both more elegant and more aromatically interesting with a spicy nose that is very Vosne with its black fruit, soy, anise and hoisin notes that slide into rich, full and sweet flavors that possess good volume and intensity on the mouth coating and admirably persistent finish. (88-90)/2013+"

    2006 Vosne-Romanée — Les Malconsorts 1er Cru $110 >>

  • "A relatively high-toned nose of dark berry fruit, in particular raspberry and cherry, and Vosne spice is trimmed in moderate wood treatment that complements the round, rich and supple flavors..."

    2006 Vosne-Romanée — Le Croix Rameau 1er Cru $110 >>

  • "Classic ruby. The most expressive of the Vosne 1ers at present with a spicy mix of mostly red berry fruit with a lovely floral note of rose petal that continues onto the equally spicy, pure and impeccably well balanced flavors that also evidence excellent precision on the intense, long and serious finish. (89-92)/2013+"

    2006 Echezeaux Grand Cru $125 >>

  • "(from the climats of Les Rouges du Bas, Les Cruots and Clos St.-Denis). A very attractive blend of black fruit, Vosne spice and a hint of new wood introduces rich, full and notably ripe flavors that possess good volume and a velvety, indeed almost suave finish that cannot disguise the impressive power and robust structure. (90-92)/2014+"

    2006 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru $135 >>

  • "(from 3 different parcels, one at the bottom and two at the top but on opposite sides). A discreet touch of wood spice frames the earthy and ripe but reticent nose of red pinot fruit and violets where the earth continues onto the very rich and big-bodied flavors that possess ample muscle and plenty of sap buffered by the very firm and tannic finish that is classic Clos de Vougeot with its pronounced youthful austerity. This is really quite promising. (90-93)/2016+"

    2006 Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru $199 >>

  • "A more refined and more elegant nose of red pinot, blue berry and intense floral notes, particularly violets, introduces rich, pure and sleekly muscled full-bodied flavors that are perhaps a bit more generous and accessible than usual while culminating in an impeccably balanced, serious and gorgeously long finish. This is a classic Grands Ech as the inherent robustness of the structure is hidden by the class and breed of the nose and flavors. I quite like this. (91-94)/2016+"

    2006 La Grand Rue Grand Cru 750ml $250 — Magnums $500 >>

  • "this is more reserved, indeed even discreet with a ripe panoply of both spicy red and black pinot fruit aromas amplified by plenty of spice notes that are transmitted clearly to the rich, full, sweet and very stylish flavors that are at once mouth coating and serious yet entirely classy on the driving finish. While the personality here is very different from the GE, they are qualitative equals and if they are available, both would make excellent additions to your cellars. (91-94)/2016+"
