Domaine Pascal Bouley — Volnay

Pascal and his wife Réyane run this 27 acre estate with style and grace, and it shows in their wines. Representing the 6th generation of the family, their young son Pierrick has joined the team as of the 2005 harvest. The vines are very old – averaging over 50 years of age, and the wines are pure Volnay. From the succulent Volnay Robardelles to the intense Volnay Clos des Chênes, they age exceptionally well, revealing layers of aromas and flavors that are intoxicating and seductive.

    2006 Volnay $35>>

  • “(from Les Pluchots and Ez Echards). This is one of those wines “in the middle” as it’s neither elegant nor is it rustic with a red berry fruit and pungently earthy nose that precedes the nicely rich medium-bodied flavors supported by moderately firm tannins and good length. (86-89)/2011+”

    2006 Volnay – Robardelles 1er Cru $55>>

  • “This is every bit as fine as the Roncerets with a beguiling nose of red and blue pinot fruit and lovely floral nuances that continue onto the silky, pure and refined barely medium weight flavors that possess strikingly good focus and balance on the understated and impressively long finish. This doesn’t have the power of the Santenots but as a study in refinement, this is exquisite. (89-92)/2012+”

    2006 Volnay - Champans 1er Cru $55>>

  • “A pretty nose of mostly red berry fruit that has a trace of both blue and black berries thrown in as it introduces earthy yet intensely minerally flavors that are cool, fresh and focused, all wrapped in a dusty and superbly complex finish. This is really an impressive effort as the depth is something. (90-93)/2014+”

2006 Volnay Clos des Chenes 1er Cru $55>>

  • “An extract of red berry fruit nose is nuanced by hints of spice and underbrush that are also reflected by the earthy and exceptionally pure medium full flavors that possess more size, weight and power though not the sheer elegance of the more prominently structured and serious finish. (90-92)/2014+”

    2006 Volnay Ronceret 1er Cru $55>>

  • “As one would reasonably expect, this is a considerable step up in elegance with airy red and dark berry fruit aromas nuanced by hints of both earth and violets that slide into supple, refined and notably pure tautly muscled flavors that culminate in finish of finesse and delicacy. A classic Volnay that is lacy and ethereal. (89-91)/2012+” ONLY 4 cases imported.

    2006 Volnay Santenots 1er Cru $55>>

  • “This is also quite pretty but more deeply pitched with more earth and violet emphasis to the red pinot fruit that complements perfectly the rich, full and generous flavors that retain a fine sense of precision on the sappy, balanced and subtly powerful finish that has a bit more overall depth on length. This too remains entirely classic in style with real grace. (89-92)/2013+” ONLY 4 cases imported.
