Audrey Pinot Noir
Audrey is our selection of the best-of-the-best. This year we chose our favorite eight barrels of the vintage, the clear stars of our cellar. (Audrey is named after and inspired by the timeless icon of natural beauty, elegance, and grace —the late Ms. Hepburn.) Consistently one of Oregon's most sought-after and highest-scoring wines every year since its debut, the wine is meant to share many of the attributes of its namesake — including refinement, elegance, and a natural, un-manipulated beauty and grace.
The 2008 Audrey is again this year comprised entirely of fruit from our blocks of Maresh Vineyard, situated atop the Dundee Hills. Our wines from this outstanding old-vine site have proven year after year to be the class of the cellar, and they show their best when on their own. We feel this is one of the rare sites in Oregon truly deserving of "single vineyard" status.
Maresh vineyard was planted by Jim Maresh in 1970, making it one of the true grand-daddies of Oregon vineyards (in fact only four Oregon sites are older.) We have a long-term lease on 7.29 acres of Blocks 10 & 12, which we farm Biodynamically.
The 2008 Audrey was fermented in a custom-made Taransaud French Oak open top tank, and no yeasts or other additions were made. The wine was aged in French oak for 10 months, with two of the eight barrels being new - and it was bottled un-fined and un-filtered at 13.1% alcohol on July 16th, 2009.

The miraculous 2008 vintage in the Willamette Valley produced what may be many of Oregon's all-time finest wines. 7+ straight weeks of perfect ripening weather in September and October gave us the most beautifully balanced fruit we've ever worked with. The '08 Audrey is brimming with ripe red berries and black cherries, succulent and seductive and pure velvet. Exceptionally long and very lovely — in our opinion it is simply the best wine we have produced to date. Delicious and very charming even now, and likely at its best 2013+.
