La Paulée Pinot Noir

La Paulée

La Paulée celebration in Burgundy

Every year in the cellar there are certain lots of wine that simply jump out at you with their intensity of flavors, multiple layers of complexity, and superior length. These are the lots that comprise the La Paulée bottling. Rather than pre-determine which vineyards or blocks this wine will come from year-to-year, we would rather select the best of what the vintage has given us, and craft the best wine we possibly can.

La Paulée is named after the traditional harvest celebration in Burgundy that began centuries ago. What began as a small dinner party at each estate for their pickers and winery crews has evolved into a grand festival in the Burgundian village of Meursault each November, with hundreds of Burgundy's top producers and their guests settling in for an 8-hour lunch, with each attendee bringing several great old bottles from their cellars to share with the group. Since 2006 we have carried the tradition into Oregon with our La Paulée de Carlton dinner on the first Saturday of November here in our cellars.
